This study assesses media usage patterns and preferences of a wide sample, more so the penetration of OTT platforms among DTH users. The current study goes on to probe many demographic variables like gender, income, and age that would influence content choice and device usage. The data clearly indicate that, more specifically, the 18-34-year-old consumer segment much more leans toward OTT platforms for availing of fictional series and reality shows, while DTH still has to be relevant to a large extent for only news consumption. The level of income does affect choices related to subscription models to a great extent; those in higher income groups would easily spend on these services. The report underlines the role of smartphones and laptops as key devices used to access media. When considering time-of-day across all genres, the research points out a peak viewership in the evening and night, giving a clear place to OTT for these times. It proves that differential pricing strategies and diversified content offers by media companies may correspond to the needs of the different demographic segments, increasing reach and engagement.
