Nutrition is a major factor that determines the physiological well-being of animal. Use of nonconventional ingredients is becoming more important for sustainability of aquaculture but their effects on both humans and animal health are equally important. The study was carried out to determine the effects of moringa seed kernels (MSK) subjected to varied treatments (raw, toasted, boiled, autoclaved and ethanol soaked) in the hematological parameters of Clarias gariepinus fingerlings. The fish were fed treated MSK diets at inclusion levels of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% respectively. The hematological indices indicated significance differences (P<0.05) among the treatments. RBC was significantly (4.33±0.50) higher (P<0.05) in 100% boiled MSK diet, WBC was higher (21.00±3.97) in 100% toasted and 25% raw MSK diets respectively while Hb was significantly (12.67±1.00) higher (P<0.05) in 100% boiled MSK diet. This study revealed that use of Moringa oleifera seed kernels in fish feed induced increase in the blood parameters like RBC, WBC, Hb and PCV values. From the result obtained in RBC, WBC, PCV, and Hb during the study indicated that Moringa oleifera seed kernels inclusion does not result into anaemia and this could support its use in aquaculture as safe plant protein source and less expensive.
