Abstract

Background:To evaluate changes in salivary flow rate, pH, and Streptococcus mutans levels in children undergoing fixed and removable space maintainer therapy.Materials & methods:Thirty individuals, aged five to twelve, of both sexes, were included in the study who needed an appliance (space maintainers, habit-breaking appliances) fixed or detachable. Data for the two groups were compared. The results were analysed using SPSS software. The p value less than 0.05 was considered significant
