Back ground: -Overweight and obesity are major modifiable risk factors for hypertension and cardiovascular diseases (1,2). Early identification of elevated blood pressure in young adults is essential for prevention of future cardiovascular morbidity. Aim To assess the correlation between resting blood pressure and body mass index (BMI) among first-year MBBS students. Materials and Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted among 100 first-year MBBS students aged 17–21 years. BMI was calculated using standard anthropometric measurements. Resting blood pressure was recorded after 5 minutes of seated rest using a calibrated sphygmomanometer. Pearson’s correlation coefficient was used to assess association. Results Mean BMI was 23.1 ± 3.4 kg/m². Mean systolic blood pressure was 116.4 ± 10.2 mmHg and mean diastolic blood pressure was 74.6 ± 8.1 mmHg. A statistically significant positive correlation was observed between BMI and systolic blood pressure (r = 0.42, p < 0.001) and BMI and diastolic blood pressure (r = 0.36, p = 0.002). Conclusion BMI shows a significant positive correlation with resting blood pressure among young medical students. Early screening may help prevent future cardiovascular risk
