Introduction: Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is a common microvascular complication that affects nearly 50% of people with diabetes within their lifetime. The pathogenesis of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is multifactorial, involving both metabolic and neurovascular mechanisms. Among the various metabolic factors implicated, deficiencies in vitamin B12, serum magnesium, and serum phosphate have emerged as potential contributors to nerve damage in diabetic patients. Aim: To explore the association between vitamin B12, serum magnesium, serum phosphate levels, and the severity of peripheral neuropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: The present study was a hospital-based observational study, Patients aged more than 18 years with a confirmed diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus were included in the study. A total of 150 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were selected from the Outpatient department for the study using consecutive sampling. The severity of diabetic peripheral neuropathy was assessed with the help of the Toronto Clinical Scoring System (TCSS) which is a validated 5 scoring system for DPN.
