This research paper explores AKR4C14, an Aldo-Keto Reductase found in Thai Jasmine Rice (Oryza sativa). Aldo-Keto Reductases (AKRs) are enzymes involved in various metabolic processes, including the detoxification of xenobiotics and the biosynthesis of important cellular components. In this study, we conducted homology modeling to predict the three-dimensional structure of AKR4C14, followed by virtual screening to identify most promising drug candidates that could interact with this enzyme. The structural insights gained from homology modeling provide a foundation for understanding AKR4C14’s enzymatic activity and substrate specificity, crucial for designing inhibitors or modulators with therapeutic applications. Our findings contribute to the broader field of agricultural and pharmaceutical sciences by elucidating the molecular basis of AKR4C14 function and suggesting novel avenues for drug discovery.
