Evaluating the Therapeutic Potential of Nigella sativa Extract via Dry Powder Inhaler in the Animal Models

Abstract

This study investigates potential therapeutic advantages of Nigella sativa extract administered via dry powder inhaler (DPI) utilizing animal models. Nigella sativa offers a promising alternative for respiratory treatment due to its potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties. A DPI containing an extract from Nigella sativa was created, and its pharmacological efficacy in treating respiratory ailments in rats and mice was evaluated. Histological examination, lung function testing, and inflammatory markers were used to assess the extract's effects. Our results demonstrate a significant decrease in oxidative stress markers, inflammatory cell infiltration, and airway resistance when comparing the treated groups to the controls. These findings suggest that a DPI administered Nigella sativa extract might be a helpful treatment for respiratory ailments, and they encourage further clinical investigation.
