INTRODUCTION: Fiber-optic bronchoscopy (FOB) has significantly advanced the field of pulmonology, evolving from a purely diagnostic tool to a versatile instrument for therapeutic interventions. Its utility extends beyond stable patients to critically ill individuals, thanks to its portability and adaptability, allowing interventions at the bedside. Despite the high-risk nature of intensive care unit (ICU) patients, who often experience multiple organ dysfunctions, FOB is increasingly used due to its diagnostic accuracy and safety, especially when performed by trained professionals. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Critically ill patients with respiratory complications in intensive care units were assessed both clinically and radiologically. Enrolment in the study occurred when conservative treatments failed, and the patient's condition either did not improve or worsened.
