Abstract

Background- This study is aimed to assess the result of core decompression along with platelet rich plasma as a functional outcome for the treatment of avascular osteonecrosis of femoral head Stage I-IIA -IIB. Materials And Method: This was a prospective longitudinal study where in 40 patients with radiologically diagnosed mono lateral or bilateral AVNFH in Stage I-IIA -IIB according to modified Ficat -Arlet classification system were treated with a combination of PRP and core decompression. The functional outcome of the patients was noted after the study. Results: The improvement in pain and functional outcome were noted. (P value: <0.5, < 0.5 respectively) Conclusion: We observed a substantial improvement in functional outcome and pain alleviation following the administration of PRP following Core Decompression in the early stages (Ficat stages I and II) of ANFH
