Abstract

Myrtus nivellei Batt et Trab. is a shrub belonging to the Myrtaceae family. Our study aims to valorize this plant widely used in medicine, and to multiply and intensify its cultivation through in vitro culture methods to facilitate the extraction of medicinal substances, the pharmaceutical manufacturing process, and most importantly, to prevent its extinction. We explored two techniques: In micropropagation, Myrtus nivellei was cultured in MS and WPM media. MS medium enriched with 1 mg/L BAP and 0.132 mg/L GA3 showed high success rates, while WPM medium with 0.5 mg/L BAP, 0.25 mg/L BAP, and 0.2 mg/L IAA did not yield conclusive results. In callogenesis, we studied the effect of MS medium on growth systems using leaves cultivated at 25°C in darkness, supplemented with ANA, 2,4-D, and kin. This study established an effective protocol for laboratory micropropagation through the culture of tender axillary buds.
