Abstract

Follicular tonsillitis is a common childhood infection, often caused by Streptococcus pyogenes. Antibiotic treatment is essential to alleviate symptoms, prevent complications, and reduce transmission. While azithromycin is widely used, concerns about resistance have led to interest in alternative therapies such as linezolid. The study aimed to compare the clinical effectiveness, bacterial eradication rates, and safety profiles of linezolid and azithromycin in children aged 2 to 6 years with follicular tonsillitis.
