Abstract

Background: Metabolic syndrome is a complex condition characterized by a cluster of risk factors. It includes obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance. Hence, these factors significantly contribute to the development of various systemic complications, including those affecting ocular tissues. Although the growing recognition of the impact of metabolic syndrome on eye health, but there is a lack of comprehensive understanding of the biochemical anatomical, and histopathological alterations it induces in ocular tissues. Objective: This study aims to provide a detailed analysis of the pathophysiological changes in ocular tissues. These issues associated with metabolic syndrome focusing on biochemical, anatomical and histopathological modifications.
