The objective of this work was to carry out morphological and phytochemical research of the Lavandula dental L variety in western Algeria. The characteristic plant material was obtained from field investigations that were carried out during the annual cycle 2022-2023, in April and May, the vegetable material of the study consisted of one hundred eighty (180) Algerian lavenders. By taking measurements on 30 samples in each of the six regions such as Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Oran and Mostaganem. A gas chromatograph coupled with a mass spectrometer was used.The ability to scavenge the stable free radical 2,2-diphenyl 1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) was evaluated.The results of statistical analysis, show that all the quantitative characteristics measured are influenced by the effect of the region with a very high significance.The majority of the characters of individuals from the Ain-Temouchent region are similar to those noted in the two regions, Tlemcen and Mostaganem, in descending order. As for the individuals of the Oran region, their characters are almost distinctive compared to those of other regions. With the exception of two characters, namely LW and NSB, which have values similar to those observed in individuals from the Tlemcen region. the highest correlation coefficient was observed between PS and DK. A significant correlation was found between PS and NSB. For LL, this character correlates only with LW and LSB with correlation coefficient values. The highest Mahalanobis Distance (D2)values, relatively, are noted between Mostaganem - Oran (D2= 14.13) and Mostaganem - Tlemcen (D2= 8.60). While the weakest are noted between Tlemcen - Ain-Temouchent (D2=2.23) and between Tlemcen - Oran (D2= 4.33). The GC–MS analysis of the essential oil isolated from Algerian lavender (Lavandula dentata ) has been shown 38 identifed components representing 97,35; 98,08; 99,07; 97,30 % of the total of the different essential oils analysed respectively .According to the present results, the percentage of free radical inhibition increases with the increase in the concentration of ascorbic acid or EOs of the four lavenders. This study provides a set of technologies for growers of aromatic and medicinal plants as well as the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
