Humans have been using plants for medical purposes since the dawn of time. Traditional medicinal plants are used in many indigenous medical systems to treat a wide range of illnesses in both humans, animals and their inclusion of bioactive substances such as primary and secondary metabolites makes them crucial for healing. These medicinal plants have been utilized for their antifungal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective properties. The current paper describes the pharmacognostic, physicochemical, and phytochemical examinations performed on the crude drugs of certain medicinal plants, including RCL, MOL, AIL, TCLS, and CCL. Phytochemical testing discovered phytoconstituents such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, phenols, steroids, terpenoids, carbohydrates, glycosides, and protein molecules, which will be useful in future research into liver disease. Physicochemical parameters of powdered drug samples of the aforementioned plants were determined, including moisture content (7.90, 7.42, 9.68, 5.93, and 17.8% w/w), ash values (13,11.5, 11.5, 9, and 12.3% w/w), extractive values such as ether soluble extractive value (11.2, 4.8, 14.6, 4, and 8% w/w), alcohol soluble extractive value (16, 9.6, 10.4, 5.6, and 6.4% w/w), and water soluble extractive value (25.6, 28, 25.6, 30.4, and 24.8% w/w). These criteria help to distinguish various powdered materials. The current study aims to improve data standards by defining a few diagnostic indices for plant identification, creating a monograph, and performing additional research on the Ayurvedic approach to medicine.
