Marrubium vulgare L, commonly known as white horehound, has been widely used as an herbal remedy against several diseases. In this study, the aqueous extract of Marrubium vulgare L. leaves was screened for its phytochemical composition; herbicidal effect and anticoagulant capacity were also tested. The phytochemical screening showed the presence of different phytochemical groups such as quinones, saponins, tannins, flavonoids, coumarins and lipids; and the absence of reducing sugars, terpenoids and steroids. Herbicidal activity ofthe aqueous extract of Marrubium vulgare L. leaves against Silybum marianum showed that the inhibition of seeds germination was dose dependent. The blood coagulation test in the presence of the aqueous extract of Marrubium vulgare L. Was positive. When the concentration of the extract increases, the coagulation time decreases and vice versa, so, the extract accelerates the coagulation.
