Abstract

Past few decades have witnessed extensive research over semiconductors that yielded some miraculous results. One of those significant yields includes the – Quantum dots. The quantum dots are practically electrons confined into lines, planes or just dots. Owing to their nanoscale size, they are also an outstanding contribution in the field of nanotechnology. Over the past few years, nanotechnologists have been able to synthesize several kinds of QDs that found utility in varying spheres of innovation and technology. From being used in LCDs to making their way into agriculture, QDs have become worthy of mention. This chapter includes further outlook into the properties, synthesis and application of quantum dots in the field of nanotechnology in general and agriculture in particular.
