Abstract

Introduction: Proper Oral hygiene is dependent on the mental health status of the subject. It is known that healthy teeth and gums enable us to chew food thoroughly, help in speaking, gives good shape and structure to your mouth. In adults, it is very important that their proper health awareness should be accessed by their respective dentists in order to maintain their oral health. As if they're aware of their oral health then they will be able to know what are the important dental practices should they have to perform in order to sustain the health of their teeth and what practices they need to apply to have a healthy and strong teeth. It is observed that different dental treatments were made available cosmetically among_ dental patients to improve and enhance the appearance of their teeth , to correct their orthodontic problems and restore their damaged or missing teeth structures. Psychological disturbance can lead to neglecting of oral hygiene and result in accumulation of dental flake. Lack of oral health awareness will be affecting your teeth in a very wide manner. It will cause oral infections such as tooth disease, periodontal disease, tooth decay and gum disease etc. Methods: A cross section study on stress and dental health based questionnaire survey study was conducted to undergraduate students of Manav Rachna Dental College, SDS, MRIIRS, Faridabad after approval of ethical committee of our institute. A Self-based questionnaire was circulated regarding awareness of knowledge, attitude and practice towards dental health hygiene among undergraduate students of our institute. Result : Data Collected and Statistical analysis was done through SPSS. Study shows 60% of undergraduate students had stress related oral mucosal changes consists of problems in their oral mucosa due to increased levels of stress and 40% of students showed stress related factors as per the perceived stress questionnaire. Mean standard deviation coefficients were calculated to evaluate PSQ items. Among the participants,64.7% were female and 35.3% were male. As per the age students range from 18 to 20years where 88.4% in the 18-20 years age group and 11.6% . No Significant Difference with respect to knowledge based on age and gender among the respondents.
