Study of Fatty Pancreas in Egyptian Patients with Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease: A Cross Sectional Study

Abstract

Background: NAFLD and fatty pancreas are related to abdominal obesity, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension, which are major etiologies of global health issues and economic burden. Aim of study: This research was aimed at investigating the fatty pancreas prevalence among Egyptian patients with NAFLD, identifying the risk factors linked to it, and investigate the role of plasma FABP1 as a biomarker for fatty pancreas. Patients and Methods: The cross sectional study included 200 patients with NAFLD who underwent a further categorization, according to presence of fatty pancreas, measured by ultrasonography.
