Abstract
In this study, cioprofloxacin served as the starting point for the preparation of the new compounds. It underwent a ring expansion to form 1,3-oxazole and 1,3-thiazole, both of which have five atoms. First, ciprofloxacin was reacted with thionylchloride and absolute ethanol to produce compound [2].
