Abstract

The importance of the indole nucleus is well established in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry, in plants, and in animal biochemistry. The 2 Indolinone and 2, 3-indolindione are important derivatives, which possess antiviral, antitubercle, antifungal, and antibacterial activities. In the present work, fifty-seven derivatives of 2, 3-indolindione was prepared. The substitutions were made at positions such as 1 and 3. The azines (I XVI) were prepared by substituting different aldehydes and ketones for Isatin-3-hydrazone. Azines (XVIIXXIV) were prepared by reacting Isatin and N-substituted Isatin with isonicotinyl hydrazide.
