Background: The prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus in Indonesia is estimated to increase from 10.6% in 2021 to 11.7% in 2045, with alternative treatments using bay leaves and cinnamon which contain antioxidant compounds as options for lowering blood sugar levels and inhibiting oxidative stress. Objective: Assessing the effect of giving a combination of bay leaves and cinnamon on blood sugar levels in Diabetes Mellitus sufferers at Padongko Health Center and Palakka Health Center, Barru Regency. Method: This type of research uses a quasi-experiment with a pre-test and posttest with control group design. The sample was 60 people consisting of 30 intervention groups and 30 control groups. The sampling technique uses simple random sampling. Data analysis used the Paired T test, Wilcoxon test, and MannWhitney test. Results: In the intervention group (combination of bay leaves and cinnamon and antidiabetic drugs) the difference in reduction in blood sugar levels before and after treatment was 32.17 mg/dL, with a reduction percentage of 14.23%. Meanwhile, in the control group (consuming antidiabetic drugs) the difference in reduction in blood sugar levels before and after treatment was 9.73 mg/dL with a reduction percentage of 5.24%. A P value of 0.000 < (0.05) indicates that there is a significant difference in blood sugar levels between the two research groups. There was an average difference of 22.43 mg/dL between the intervention group and the control group. Conclusion: The combination of bay leaves and cinnamon in the intervention group reduced blood sugar levels by 14.23% in Diabetes Mellitus sufferers at the Padongko and Palakka Health Centers, compared to a reduction of 5.24% in the control group who only used antidiabetic drugs.
