This study investigates the impact of toxoplasmosis on the immune response, specifically examining the levels of interleukin-8 (IL-8) and interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) in infected individuals. In humans, infection with T. gondii has been associated with altered immune responses, potentially leading to increased susceptibility to various health issues. Elevated levels of IL-8, a pro-inflammatory cytokine, may indicate an ongoing inflammatory response, while IFN-γ plays a crucial role in controlling intracellular parasites. In local cats, the study aims to correlate the presence of T. gondii with changes in IL-8 and IFN-γ levels, providing insights into the immune mechanisms at play.
