Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become increasingly relevant in aquaculture research and production in recent years – with both startups and established companies developing new AI-based applications for the industry. AI involves programming that facilitates recognition (images, languages, music, etc.) and decision making – without the need for human supervision. Oxford Languages defines AI as “the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages”.
