Abstract

Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible blindness globally, primarily resulting from the progressive degeneration of the optic nerve. Central to the pathophysiology of glaucoma is the dysregulation of aqueous humor outflow, which leads to elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), a critical risk factor for the disease. The aqueous humor outflow pathway involves a complex interplay between the trabecular meshwork (TM), Schlemm's canal (SC), and the uveoscleral pathway.
