Paralysis is loss of muscle function for one or more muscles. It is most often caused by damage in the nervous system, especially the spinal cord. Other major causes are stroke, trauma with nerve injury, poliomyelitis, Parkinson’s diseases, ALS, and multiple sclerosis. In this proposed system we mainly designed a device for ALS patient. The ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a motor neuron disease that is characterized by muscle spasticity rapidly progressive weakness due to muscle atrophy, difficulty in speaking, swallowing and breathing. This paper proposed a device which is mainly used for communication between this type of patients and to that caretaker. The communication is based on the patient’s basic needs. The system consists of EOG sensor, microcontroller, LCD display and the GSM unit. The EOG sensor is used to the senses blinking of patient. Based on their blinking the message will display on the LCD and also send as a SMS to their caretakers.
