Background:The human skull consists of 22 bones that fuse together after birth which are divided into neurocranium and visserocranium bones. The skull bones are connected with cranial sutures. Wormian bones or sutural bones are accessory small bones which occur accidentally or intercalated between or near cranial sutures isolated from normal ossification centre of skull. Two fontanelles usually are present on a newborn's skull. On the top of the middle head, just forward of center, anterior fontanelle. In the back of the middle of the head, posterior fontanelle. The posterior fontanelle usually closes by age 1 to 2 months. It may already be closed at birth. The anterior fontanelle usually closes sometime within 7 to 19 months. The sutures and fontanelles are needed for the infant's brain growth and development. The present study was conducted to find the sutural bones at lambda and bregma. Materials and Methods We have conducted this study with 72 adult dry skulls, out of these 52 skulls as male and 20 skulls as female. We have seen the lambda carefully and recorded about sutures present at lambda. We have not included damgaed skulls in our study , only fine and hygenic condition skulls were included. Result We have observed total 72 skulls for sutural bones at lambda. We have seen 15(20.83%) skulls, with sutural bones at lambda, we also observed 1(1.38%) sutural bone at bregma. Conclusion: Knowledge of sutural bones may be helpful to forensic practice, anthologists, paediatricians, neurologists. It helps understanding of normal fontanelle morphology, variations.
