Abstract

Sacroiliac joints (SIJs) are the vital joints in terms of transferring weight from the axial to the appendicular skeleton, during pregnancy there are hormonal imbalance and ligamentous laxity, the uterine wall stretches to accommodate the growing fetus which in turn forces the pelvis to be in the anterior pelvic tilt and strains these joints to a greater extent. However, in day-to-day clinical practice, less priority is given to sacroiliac joint pain (SIP) and there is no proper evidence-based treatment for this condition. In our literature review we have collected possible non-pharmacological treatment methods, in that Kinesiology tape (KT) is identified as ideal for treating pregnancy-related SIP.
