To provide preliminary data on wild aquatic avian biodiversity in Mount Edough (North-Eastern Algeria), avifaunal surveys were carried out in 2 different lakes (Merdj Bordi and Ain Zenna). This study, which aims to provide preliminary data on wild aquatic avian species in Mount Edough, consisted of monthly counting, from November 2018 to May 2020, and analyzing their seasonal distribution in the 2 lakes. The monitoring showed the presence of Anatidae in the study area. A total of 5 species were recorded. The number varied considerably over time and seasons. Thus, the maximum abundance was recorded in November 2018 with 351 individuals or 35.46% of the population. The lowest abundance was, however, recorded during the month of October 2019 until May 2020 with 2 individuals or 0.20% of the population. The Green-winged Teal Anas crecca (Linnaeus, 1758) is the species that occupied the highest proportion in this population assemblage. It emerges from this study that Mount Edough is a resting area and therefore contributes to the conservation of these birds.
