This study was conducted in order to assess the energy using, greenhouse gas emissions, and mechanization situation of the Biskra region's durum wheat production system for the 2021–2022 season. Using a questionnaire given to one hundred (100) cereal farmers, the data were gathered. According to the results, te energy input was 41,545.36 MJ.Haˉ¹, and the energy output was 48,086.19 MJ.Haˉ¹. The energy indicator calculations showed that the specific energy, net energy, energy productivity, and energy efficiency were 1.15, 0.08 kg.MJˉ¹, 12.43 MJ.kgˉ¹, and + 6,540.83 MJ.haˉ¹, respectively. We were able to determine from these findings that this system is sustainable and productive, meaning it produces more energy than it uses. 1,682.39 kg CO2eq.Haˉ¹ is the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions from the inputs. Additionally, the computations showed that mechanization contributes 2.51% and the mechanization index is almost 71% which show an acceptable level of modernization.
