Pepper (Capsicum spp.), one of the most important spices and vegetable crops worldwide is considered part of the human diet. This study aim to analyze the genetic resources of local chili varieties for future improvement of their agronomic performance. A total of (9) nine local varieties produced in five different departments were identified and selected from available collection at the Laboratory of Plant Physiology and Environmental Stress Studies. Thus, a Fisher block and three-repetition design was installed on the experimental site. Based on the analyses carried out, it is found that the diameter at the collar (DiaC) was positively and strongly correlated with the height of the plant (HP), the number of branches of the stem (NBS), and the density of the foliage (DFol). Analysis of variance showed no significant difference (p < 0.05) between varieties, in terms of a number of branches (NBS), length of most developed branch (LenB), span of foliage (SFol) and foliage density (DFol). However, the varieties ‘Fundja’, ‘Gbatakin’, ‘Takin gaga’, and ‘Tchobo’ showed a long germination time, smaller diameter and height of plants, leaf area, number of branches, lengths of the most developed branch, foliage spans, and average foliage densities.
