Abstract

In the abstract of the study for " An Impact of Simulation as an Educational technique on Skill regarding Newborn Resuscitation among Nursing Students”, the role of simulation in training nursing students regarding the competency of newborn resuscitation skill is discussed. The knowledge of performing resuscitation on newborns is central to the management of newborn’s health and survival in situations of emergencies. Simulation can be utilized for practice and improvement of various skills within the confines of the learning environment and therefore increases the effectiveness of learning. The study will evaluate the impact of simulation-based educational session on newborn resuscitation skill among nursing students. Simulation, serious game simulation, Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice improve nursing student’s knowledge, perceived self-efficacy and clinical competencies in neonatal resuscitation; thus, calls for incorporation of simulation in nursing training programs globally. The study uses an interpretivist research philosophy and a descriptive research approach with secondary data and thematic analysis. From the reviewed articles, it can be inferred that simulation-based training, serious game simulation as well as Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice enhances nursing students’ knowledge, self-confidence as well as practical skills in newborn resuscitation. It is evident that through simulation-based training, students can be offered the opportunity to gain practice and experience in handling various clinical situations, hence positively contributing towards the overall better patient outcomes and decreased neonatal mortality. It is suggested that simulation- based training must be incorporated into nursing curricula in a bid to improve the skills of nursing students who are likely to handle newborns during resuscitation as well as to ensure safe healthcare practices. The evidence presented in this study calls for further research and rollout of simulation-based learning initiatives in the advancement of nursing training and enhancement of neonatal healthcare across the world.
