Street food in India is a complex topic, and the present review investigation compiles perspectives from consumers as well as vendors from around the nation. The aim of the study is to understand perception of street food by conducting a thorough search of a comprehensive database. It combined findings from many research that used questionnaires, observations and cross- sectional analyses. Consumers perspectives revealed a notable lack of understanding in food safety, coupled with apprehensions over sanitary standards. However, flavour, price and convenience were identified as the main factors that attracts consumers. The vendors focussed studies revealed that vendor practices exhibited a range of management techniques, but also suggest a lack of proper execution of hygiene measures, while being aware of the importance. Additionally, the paper highlights the importance of implementing organized vendor training programs to improve food safety protocol. Effective awareness programs would play a crucial role in bridging the gap between knowledge and practice, hence will improve street food safety and perception among consumers and vendors.
