Analysis Of Employee Preparedness In Facing Earthquake Disasters at Prof. Dr. H. M. Anwar Makkatutu General Hospital, Bantaeng Regency

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the factors associated with employee preparedness in facing earthquake disaster at RSUD Prof. Dr. H. M. Anwar Makkatutu Bantaeng Regency.In this topic, the main concepts and theories that underpin the research are presented. Several factors that associated with employee preparedness in facing earthquake according to Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia – United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (LIPI-UNESCO, 2006), and individual factors like age, gender, and work unit. This type of research is analytic observational with a cross sectional approach. The population of study 638 healthworkers with sample of study are 252 people using the slovin formula then sampling was done with proportionate stratified random sampling. Data analysis was carried out univariate, bivariate, and multivariate using the chi-square test.The results showed that early warning system (p=0.000) and earthquake training (p=0.004) were factors associated with the preparedness of employee. While variables of knowledge (p=0.175), emergency response plan (p=0.080), gender (p=0.521), age (p=0.182), and work unit (p=0.886) are not associated to employee preparedness at Prof. Dr. H. M. Anwar Makkatutu Hospital. In multivariate, the variables early warning system, emergency response plan, and earthquake training, had a significant simultaneous effect on preparedness. The variable that has the most influence on preparedness is the early warning system variable, with a t-count value of 6.442. It is recommended that the integration of preparedness in the form of planning, early warning systems, and disaster training be improved so as to form a holistic and effective disaster management system.
