Abstract

Background: Traditional medicine makes extensive use of the several types of Thymus vulgaris lamiaceae, a genus known for its preventative and/or therapeutic properties. Aromatherapy: the art of healing with essential oils, it is based on the classification of essential oils according to their inhibitory effects (bacteriostatic and/or bactericidal) against microorganisms. Essential oils that are derived from several thymus vulgaris types are used extensively as preservatives and flavours in the food industry as well as antiseptics in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
