Assessment of clinical effect Transabdominal and Transvaginal Sonography in the early detection of ectopic pregnancy

Abstract

Objective: To assess TAS & TVS effect in Early Ectopic Pregnancy Material & Method: A total of 250 individuals who were diagnosed with ectopic pregnancy throughout the period of 12 February 2023 to 20 February 2024 at University of Lahore Teaching Hospital, and had surgery to confirm the diagnosis were chosen to participate in the study. The patients' duration from onset to door varied from one hour to seven days. Their ages ranged from 20 to 36 (average age 27.2±2.2 years). The patients experienced menopause for 32 to 49 days (on average, 40.6±9.7 days). 179 of the 250 women were primiparas, while 71 were multiparas. A stomachache, an abdominal mass, irregular vaginal bleeding, menopause, and syncope were the main clinical signs. A permission form was signed by each patient before to the trail. Results: The findings from ultrasonography tests performed on 250 patients who had ectopic pregnancies. The positive correct diagnosis rate for 238 patients who underwent transvaginal sonography confirmed their ectopic gestation was 95.2%; 210 patients who underwent transabdominal sonography confirmed their ectopic gestation, with a positive confirmed diagnosis rate of 84.0%; and 244 patients who underwent transvaginal sonography in conjunction with transabdominal sonography confirmed their ectopic gestation, with a positive confirmed diagnosis rate of 97.6%. Conclusion: A reliable foundation for diagnosing ectopic gestation may be established by combining transvaginal and abdominal sonography. By addressing the shortcomings of both techniques, transvaginal and transabdominal sonography work together to increase diagnostic accuracy.
