To comparatively assess and compare the severity of dental anxiety between patients in public and private dental hospitals in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Pakistan. Methodology It is a cross sectional study conducted in 2024 among patients at public and private dental hospitals. A random sample of 385 patients at OPD of private and public dental hospitals of twin cities of Pakistan were analyzed in this study. Data was collected by interviewing the patients via structured questionnaire using Modified Dental Anxiety Scale (MDAS). Data was analysed using SPSS version 25. Results Total 385 patients were included in study with 197(51.2%) males and 188 (48.8%) females. Findings showed that dental anxiety in new dental experience (M= 12.85, SD= 5.35) is higher as compared to the dental anxiety in past dental experience (M= 5.47, SD= 1.93) and dental anxiety in public hospital sector (M= 14.44, SD= 5.54) is higher as compared to the dental anxiety in private hospital sector (M= 11.32, SD= 4.65). Conclusion On basis of the MDAS score dental anxiety was found more among patients from public dental hospitals as compared to private dental hospitals. Moreover, females had more anxiety as compared to males and patients with no previous dental experience had more anxiety as compared to patients having past dental experience.
