Comparative Outcomes in Urological Disorders: A Case-Control Study on Bladder Cancer Prognosis

Abstract

Bladder cancer is one of the most prevalent urological malignancies, with increasing global incidence rates. This case-control study aimed to evaluate the prognostic factors influencing bladder cancer outcomes and determine the statistical significance of various demographic, clinical, and pathological variables. The primary objective was to compare survival rates and disease progression between patients with early and advanced-stage bladder cancer. Data were collected from a cohort of 150 patients, including both cases and matched controls. The study’s findings highlighted significant correlations between age, smoking history, tumor stage, and recurrence rates. Notably, age over 65 years, a history of smoking, and advanced tumor stage emerged as independent predictors of poor prognosis. Statistical analysis, including multivariate logistic regression and Kaplan-Meier survival curves, revealed that these factors significantly affected survival rates (p < 0.05). This study offers novel insights into bladder cancer prognostication, emphasizing the necessity for early detection and personalized treatment strategies. The results are significant for clinicians and healthcare providers, enabling the identification of high-risk groups and tailoring of surveillance protocols. In conclusion, further research should focus on incorporating genetic and molecular markers to refine risk stratification and improve patient outcomes.
