Tourism is subject to climate change and emits greenhouse gases (GHG). Accelerating climate action in tourism is crucial for industry resilience. Climate action involves measuring and reducing GHG emissions and improving climate adaptation. One of the biggest detrimental effects of tourism is environmental deterioration. Tourism hotspots, especially in ecologically vulnerable places, often lose habitat to infrastructural expansion. Hotels, resorts, highways, and other tourism amenities can deforest, modify land, deplete natural resources, and damage ecosystems. Resorts have replaced picturesque beaches in Bali, harming marine life and eroding the shoreline. This paper reflects critical analysis on impact of tourism on environment in Digha and Sundarban of West Bengal.
