A study on the distribution status of Genus Begonia in Baliguhan forest Talangisog, Eureka, Gingoog City was conducted. The study aimed to assess the distribution and conservation status of Begonia in Baliguihan Forest, Sitio Talangisog, Barangay Eureka specifically to collect, identify, determine the distribution, conservation status and endemicity and note the economic importance of the identified Begonia species. The study utilized opportunistic transect walking method to gather a comprehensive description and photographic documentation of Begonia sample species and to facilitate fast and easy identification. A total of five Begonia species were collected and identified in the study namely: Begonia olganunezae, Begonia bangsamoro, Begonia colorata, Begonia oligantha, and Begonia rieckei. Among of the five species collected and identified, two species were known as endangered which includes: B. bangsangmoro and B. olganunezae; one known as vulnerable, particularly B. colorata, and one species listed as least concern specifically, B. oligantha. Of the five identified Begonia species, only B. oligantha, commonly called as "magpang” by the locality is utilized as "pasinaw," which means polish in English being particularly used for dental care that is also used as a natural washing agent for their traditional bracelets, commonly called as ‘galang”, providing luster.
