Introduction: Curcumin, a natural polyphenolic compound, has the potential to influence anthropometric and glycemic indices. However, existing meta analyses have yielded controversial results. Aim: This study aimed to improve metabolic health by evaluating the effects of curcumin supplementation on BMI and HbA1c levels in patients at a family practice center in Ismailia, Egypt. Methodology: This double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial included 118 patients, who were randomly assigned to either the curcumin group or the placebo group. BMI and HbA1c levels were measured at baseline, 6 weeks, and 12 weeks for all participants. Results: By the end of the study, the curcumin group showed a significant decrease in mean BMI compared to baseline (p = 0.002), although no significant differences were observed between the two groups at the study's conclusion. Both groups experienced reductions in HbA1c at 6 and 12 weeks, with a statistically significant difference observed at 12 weeks, particularly in the intervention group. Conclusion: The study demonstrated that 12 weeks of curcumin supplementation had beneficial effects on body weight and glycemic control.
