Background: Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is the most prevalent type of scoliosis in children. It takes place between ten and eighteen years of age. Aim: To evaluate the short-term results of low-density implants in the correction of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. Patients and methods: This prospective research was performed at Beni-Suef University Hospital from September 2020 until January 2022. The study encompassed 30 patients (2 males and 28 females) diagnosed with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, who underwent correction using low-density implant constructs. Age ranged from 10 to 16 years (average 13.3 ± 1.88 years). Results: There was a statistically significant positive moderate association among screw density and operative time (r = 0.504, p<0.001) & a statistically significant positive strong association among screw density & blood loss (r = 779, p<0.001). There were non-statistically significant associations between screw density and change or correction degree in each of the Scoliosis Research Society questionnaires (SRS) (p-values > 0.05). The mean operative time of the studied cases was 258.57 (±34.42 SD) with range (201-313), the mean blood loss was 837 (±307.38 SD) with range (290-1360), and the mean screw density was 1.23 (±0.2 SD) with range (1-1.6). Conclusion: The study found no significant correlation between coronal and implant density or axial curve corrections, but mild positive associations with anchor density. Longevity of fusion and low implant density lead to excellent stability and curve correction, reducing surgical time, blood loss, risk, and expense.
