This research article examines the interconnected themes of exile, dispossession, and national identity within the context of Palestinian literature, with a particular focus on the poetry of Mahmoud Darwish. Through an analysis of Darwish's seminal works like Write Down, I am an Arab and I Come From There, the article explores how exile and dispossession have given shape to Palestinian national consciousness. Darwish's poetry not only captures the profound emotional and cultural impact of displacement but also deals with the resilience and resistance that define the Palestinian struggle for identity and self-determination. This study highlights the role of memory, land, and cultural heritage in the formation of national identity, offering a comprehensive understanding of the Palestinian experience through the lens of Darwish’s evocative and poignant verse.
