Purpose:To evaluate the perception among parents of children with amblyopia towards digital screen-based binocular vision therapy for amblyopia treatment at a tertiary eye care centre. Methods: The quasi-structured questionnaire assessing the perception about digital screen-based binocular vision therapy was circulated amongst the parents of children with amblyopia visiting a tertiary eye care hospital in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The questionnaire was divided into three domains, including questions on knowledge about amblyopia and its treatment, the awareness and attitude of parents towards digital screen-based binocular vision therapy for amblyopia management and demographic characteristics of parents of children with amblyopia. Spearman’s correlation test was performed to understand the relation between awareness, acceptance and efficiency with education, income and occupation. Results: The questionnaire was circulated to 200 parents of these 108 study participants returned the completed questionnaire. Of all, 78%(n=84) of the amblyopic children were undergoing active treatment of which 80% (n=67) were on occlusion therapy alone. The majority of parents 60% (n=65) believed that digital screen-based binocular vision therapy would efficiently improve visual functions. The major source of information regarding available treatment options was from their clinical practitioners (80%, n=30). The expectation of parents from digital screen-based therapy compared to occlusion therapy was a shorter treatment period. No correlation pattern was found between education, income and occupation of parents with awareness, acceptance and efficiency of digital screen-based binocular vision therapy for the management of amblyopia. Conclusion: Most of the participants felt that digital screen-based therapy would effectively enhance visual function. Practitioners play a major role in the awareness of treatment options as practitioners are the primary source of information for treatment modalities.
