The current work aimed to formulate and evaluate (In-vitro) self-micro emulsified drug delivery (SMEDDS) of Pitavastatin using different oils, surfactants and co-surfactants to enhance the solubility of Pitavastatin which poorly water-soluble drug. Solubility studies were conducted in different oils, surfactants and co-surfactants to select oil, surfactant a co-surfactant for additional studies. L-SMEDDS have been converted into S-SMEDDS using silica gel at 1:1 ratio in China dish. Both L-SMEDDS and S-SMEDDS were characterized to assess the optimized formulations. Particle size analyzer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and FTIR studies were performed to evaluate the physicochemical properties of S-SMEDDS and to assess the compatibility between drug with excipients which used in the formulations.
