Maintaining good oral health is essential to overall health, but it can be difficult to prevent conditions including dental caries, periodontal disease, localized soft tissue infections, mouth ulcers, and halitosis. The goal of this work was to create a novel natural oral care product by utilizing eugenol, a bioactive component of clove oil, to create a new herbal chewing gum formulation. Eugenol, a phenolic molecule, is a great option to be incorporated in dental care products because it has demonstrated antibacterial, antioxidant, and analgesic properties effects. Chewing gum provides a number of benefits as a delivery method, such as easy and non invasive dosing, the potential for buccal absorption, and the gradual release of bioactive substances into the oral cavity.
