Background: Healthcare policy changes significantly influence access to care, impacting patient outcomes and healthcare equity. This bibliometric review examines research trends and the effects of these policy changes on access to care. Methods: We conducted a bibliometric analysis of English-language articles and reviews indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection, covering the period from January 1, 2005, to June 30, 2024. A total of 912 publications were included, consisting of 634 research articles and 278 reviews. Results: Research activity in this field has shown consistent growth, with a peak of 126 publications in 2023. The United States leads in publication volume with 248 papers and 13,765 citations, followed by European countries. There has been a notable increase in research output from Asia, especially China and India. Key researchers include Smith J (Harvard University), Brown L (University of Oxford), and Wang Q (Peking University). Harvard University ranks as the most productive institution, but its publications are less frequently cited compared to others. The terms "health equity," "policy evaluation," "healthcare reform," "access to care," and "population health outcomes" are central to this body of research.
