Abstract

The application of glyphosate to improve agricultural production has serious environmental implications. One of the primary causes of soil contamination is its ineffective and unregulated use and deterioration of its fertility. This study examines the influence of glyphosate on the soil microbial population in the arid region of Ouargla (Algeria). Microbiological analyzes were carried out in parallel with physico-chemical analyzes on soil samples to determine the bacteria and fungi density after 7days, 14days, 21 days and 28 days of treatment with glyphosate. The results indicate that glyphosate has significantly elevated the number of microorganisms in the soil, and changed the values of the physico chemical properties of the soil.
