Abstract

To study detailed Pharmacognostic profile and Phytochemical screening of leaves of Elsholtzia blanda (E. blanda) under the family Lamiaceae. The leaf samples of E. blanda were studied by macroscopical, microscopical, physicochemical, fluorescence analysis, phytochemical of powder of the plant. The herbs is between 1 to 1.5m of height. Fresh leaf of E. blanda is 2-.5 cm long, 2.5-5 cm wide, Ovate to Lanceolate shape, Herbaceous by taste. The flower is white color giving aromatic smell. Microscopically, the TS of leaves reveals the presence of lower epidermis, upper epidermis, xylem, vascular bundle, phloem and more. The moisture content, methanol soluble extractive value and water soluble extractive value were almost similar but the total ash, water soluble ash and acid insoluble ash were almost increased in flower as compared to the leave. Dried leaves powder were treated with various chemical reagent to check the change in color for the fluorescence analysis. Phytochemical studies has been perform and shows the presence of Alkaloids, Steroids and terpenoids, Carbohydrates, Saponins, Flavonoids, and Glycoside. The result of the study serve as the valuable source of information and provide suitable standard of identification of the plant in future investigation and research.
