This study investigates the phytochemicals of two medicinal plants, Aegle marmelos and Euphorbia hitra, using qualitative, quantitative, and GC-MS analysis. The quantitative phytochemical investigation of the leaf methanolic extracts revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids, coumarins, diterpenes, and atropine equivalent (AE)/g of dried extract. The total polyphenol content (TPC) of Aegle marmelos was 73.7, while Euphorbia hitra had 133.53. Total flavonoid content (TFC) was 73.2 and Euphorbia hitra had 85.5. Total alkaloid content (TAC) was 79.43. The GC-MS analysis of methanolic extracts of Aegle marmelos and Euphorbia hitra leaves revealed a rich diversity of compounds, predominantly fatty acids and their derivatives. Aegle marmelos exhibited 54 compounds, while Euphorbia hitra demonstrated 41 distinct compounds. This comprehensive profiling highlights the phytochemical richness of both plants, underscoring their potential medicinal and therapeutic applications. The results will help in understanding the potential of these plants as natural medicines for treating various diseases and ailments in humans and non-human animals.
