Introduction : Epulis is a particular kind of tumor that grows from below the free gingival margin or interdental papilla. It is usually caused by hormonal factors, irritative trauma or physical trauma, and is characterized by excessive tissue growth. One type of epulis is fibromatous epulis. Fibromatous epulis gives a clinical sign of pink, sometimes accompanied by pain, and can cause bone resorption. Treatment methods are carried out with excision and open flap techniques, accompanied by the addition of bone graft material to regenerate the lost periodontal tissue. Objective : To discuss the implementation of regenerative therapy on the treatment of fibromatous epulis accompanied by bone defects. Case : A 35-year-old woman came to Hasanuddin University Dental and Oral Hospital with complaints of gums growing on the lower jaw that interfered with chewing and easily bled while brushing teeth. The mass appeared 3 months ago; it was initially small and grew to the size of 1 x 0.6 x 0.5 cm, had a solid consistency, could be moved, was tightly bound, and did not evoke pain when palpated. The patient had the habit of using toothpicks after eating. The history indicates that the patient does not have a history of systemic disease. Case management : Fibromatous epulis treatment begins with early therapy, including plaque control, Scaling and Root Planing (SRP), Dental Health Education (DHE), a radiological examination, surgical and histological examinations. A week after the initial therapy, the epulis was extracted with conventional and open flap techniques, accompanied by the addition of bone graft material. The control results showed the gums looked normal, pain complaints and bleeding stopped. The radiological results showed a compact and normal bone imaging. The results of the histopathological examination of the enlargement are classified as fibromatous epulis. Patients are instructed to maintain oral health and avoid use of toothpicks. Conclusion : Treatment of fibromatous epulis with conventional techniques accompanied by flap and bone graft surgery showed good clinical and radiological results, as well as providing patient satisfaction.
